Shin Ramyun
Shin Ramyun is a fusion dish that combines Korean ramen with Chinese flavors. These noodles are spicy and savory, often served with kimchi, pork, and vegetables. Shin Ramyun usually uses wheat noodles similar to ramen noodles to cook, and it reflects the global influence on contemporary Korean cuisine. It is also a popular choice for a quick and satisfying meal in South Korea, enjoyed by people of all ages, particularly in urban areas with a vibrant street food culture.
The emergence of Shin Ramyun coincided with South Korea's hosting of the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympics. Founder Shin Chun-ho used this opportunity and became a sponsor for the Seoul Olympics. After that, Shin Ramyun's sales surged sixfold and became synonymous with Korean instant noodles. Similarly, there are folk stories surrounding the noodles, adding mystery and historical depth to the dish.
